Located approximately 18 miles north of downtown Chicago in Cook County, the Village of Glenview was incorporated in 1899. As of March 2004, the population was 44,500 and median housing value was $336,000. A strong mix of recreation, housing, education, cultural and business services add to the intangible quality of life Glenview’s residents enjoy.

The Glenview Park District provides year-round recreation and maintains 735 acres of land including 38 landscaped parks and school grounds, 38 outdoor tennis courts, 50 ball fields, 30 basketball courts, 13 field houses, 27 soccer fields, 2 sledding hills, 2 skate parks and a mini-arboretum. The Glenview Park Golf Club is a 110-acre, 18-hole course in the heart of Glenview. The Glenview Tennis Club offers 8 indoor courts. Park Center, a 165,000 square foot community center has a health & fitness club, indoor track, four-pool aquatic center, 2 gyms, banquet room and preschool, arts and senior center wings.

Glenview has many natural spaces and places to experience and enjoy. The Natural Resources Commission is responsible for promoting the restoration and Glenview’s native landscapes and ecosystems. The centerpiece of the community is the 140-acre Gallery Park which features the 45-acre Lake Glenview, 6 miles of walking and biking trails, an amphitheater, boardwalk, playgrounds, gardens, fountain, tennis courts and athletic fields. Air Station Prairie is a 32-acre site owned and managed by the Glenview Park District. It contains a collection or rare, native prairie vegetation which can be accessed by walking paths.
